Fortaleza is among the two most sought after destinations in the Northeast by tourists. Whether for its beautiful beaches, great weather practically all year round or being the base for outstanding beaches such as Jericoacoara.

Tourist areas are relatively safe, but the city has high crime rates. So pay attention to the following guidelines:

1. Do not walk along the beach promenade with valuables exposed.
2. Take care at Praia do Futuro during off-peak hours.
3. At night, avoid staying on the beach.
4. Only visit tourist areas, as there are neighborhoods that are better not to enter.
