The tourist areas of São Paulo are relatively safe for criminal actions. Some areas are best avoided at night.

1. Parts of downtown São Paulo are dangerous at night, so avoid walking.
2. Withdrawal of cash at ATMs must only be carried out in closed places such as Shopping Centers.
3. At the airport, hotels and restaurants, do not leave your belongings unattended. There are gangs specializing in cell phone, notebook and suitcase theft.
